COMMITMENT TO SAFETY AND QUALITY

The main objective of PLAY S.A. is the safety of our children, as well as the maximum satisfaction of our customers, which is why our products, from the initial concept, are developed with the maximum commitment to innovation, development and continual improvement, minimising the consequences caused by an accident or any unforeseen incident without forgetting the design and maximum comfort.

That’s why Play has a Quality assurance system certified under the standards of the ISO 9001:2008 regulation.

All our daily work can be summed up in just one sentence: COMMITMENT TO SAFETY AND QUALITY FOR MAXIMUM CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

1. CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEMS

1.A. REGULATIONS

In accordance with directive 2003/20/CE of the European Parliament, the use of Child Restraint Systems is obligatory for children under 135 cm tall, whether they are travelling in the front or back seat.

This is obligatory in all countries of the European Union and the products must fully comply with Regulation ECE R44/04. Complying with this regulation means that the occupants of the vehicle are protected in the event of front or rear accidents and it specifically assesses:

  • The effectiveness of the child’s protection in the event of a crash (dynamic tests called Crash Tests)
  • The stability of the production by means of statistical studies of the results of several sensors fitted onto the Crash Test Dummies in the most representative parts and places most vulnerable to injury.
  • The duration of the product through functioning cycles, testing its thermal resistance, to both cold and heat, resistance to exposure to light, corrosion in a salt air atmosphere, static resistance, etc.
  • Chemical safety through content analysis of various elements and compounds (toxicity tests)
  • Resistance to fire and self-extinguishing properties of the fabrics and foams
  • Subsequent Conformity of Production tests are carried out on 1 out of every 5000 units produced.

The regulation divides the Child Restraint Systems into mass groups that are:

GROUP 0 From birth up to 10 Kg
GROUP 0+ From birth up to 13 Kg
GROUP I From 9 up to 18 Kg
GROUP II From 15 Kg up to 25 Kg
GROUP III From 22 Kg up to 35 Kg

1.B. HOW A DYNAMIC OR CRASH TEST IS CARRIED OUT

The tests are carried out by installing a crash test dummy in the Child Restraint System (CRS) corresponding to the mass group of the CRS.

New born 3.5 Kg crash test dummy
P3/4 Simulates a child of 9 months and 9 Kg
P1 ½ Simulates a child of one and a half years and 13 Kg
P3 Simulates a child of 3 years and 15 Kg
P6 Simulates a child of 6 years and 22 Kg
P10 Simulates a child of 10 years and 32 Kg

Once the dummy is installed in the CRS it is fitted into a mobile structure that uses a mechanical system to accelerate to the required crash speed, at which point a sharp deceleration occurs the same as in a real accident.

The sensors fitted in the dummies allow us to assess the possible damage that has occurred, as well as the high-speed camera system that allows us to assess the displacements to determine if the product complies with the values specified in the regulation.

2. PUSHCHAIR SYSTEMS

2.A REGULATIONS

The use of Pushchair Systems is regulated by the European Parliament and for these systems to be marketed they must comply with the European regulation EN 1888:2003.

This is obligatory in all countries of the European Union and the products are subject to periodic inspections from the consumer organisms emanating directly from national governments.

Complying with this European regulation means that the child is protected in the event of an unforeseen incident and it specifically assesses:

  • The risk of asphyxia
  • The risk of choking on small parts, or because of straps or cords that are too long.
  • The risk of injury due to fingers or toes getting trapped
  • The risk of cuts or lacerations from sharp or cutting edges
  • That the pushchair does not turn over on extreme slopes
  • Braking ability
  • Durability of use through functioning cycles, static resistance, etc.
  • Duration of the product on different types of ground
  • Restraint capacity of the harnesses (example in the event of the pushchair completely turning over)
  • Chemical safety through content analysis of various elements and compounds (toxicity tests)
  • Resistance to fire and self-extinguishing properties of the fabrics and foams

Compliance with this regulations is also obligatory for the Pushchair Systems used in combination with the group zeros or carrycots that can be used in each case and also with the rear platforms, for a second child, which are specifically approved for each system.

3. COMPLEMENTS

Before they are marketed childcare articles are subject to compliance with European Standards specific for each type of product.

This is obligatory in all countries of the European Union and the products are subject to periodic inspections from the consumer organisms emanating directly from national governments.

Complying with these European regulations means that the child is protected in the event of an unforeseen incident and it specifically assesses:

  • The risk of asphyxia
  • The risk of choking on small parts, or because of straps or cords that are too long.
  • The risk of injury due to fingers or toes getting trapped
  • The risk of cuts or lacerations from sharp or cutting edges
  • That the pushchair does not turn over on extreme slopes
  • Durability of use through functioning cycles, static resistance, etc.
  • Restraint capacity of the fastening elements
  • Chemical safety through content analysis of various elements and compounds (toxicity tests)
  • Resistance to fire and self-extinguishing properties of the fabrics and foams
  • Specific requirements for each type of product

4.QUALITY

The fact that we have been granted the certificate for complying with the Quality standards of the ISO 9001:2008 regulation confirms our system, based on continual improvement, that enables us to ensure the highest quality of our products, to achieve the main commitment of our Company, the safety of our children.

Our quality system is developed in accordance with the following focal points:

  • Research and Development
  • Testing Laboratory
  • Quality Assurance of the Purchase Materials
  • Periodic audits of the stability of the production of suppliers
  • Continual manufacturing audit
  • Entry audits
  • Issue audits
